The flywheel driving this open rock crusher requires 60 seconds to achieve maximum speed. Due to the remote location of this quarry, power is supplied by a local generator incapable of supplying starting current greater than 3 times the nominal current. This current limiting requirement along with other aspects of the application including belt slippage and the harsh desert environment of the Jordan valley demands the high quality and long term reliability of a Solcon soft-starter.

The RVS-DN is configured to allow inrush current only as high as the generator can supply. By eliminating the high inrush current, belt slippage is avoided, and all mechanical elements connected to the motor shaft are not stressed on startup.

The comprehensive motor protection system built into the soft-starter constantly monitors the motor and soft-starter, extending the effective life of the motor and associated equipment.
