Soft starters for the Offshore Oil & Gas Industry
Floating Buoy Platform Navion Hispania
Bow thruster
Motor Rating: 2400A, 690V
RVS-DN 2400A/690V
Power section in the rear part
Control module in the front part
Due its weight with fully loaded tanks the Buoy Platform Navion Hispania needed an enormous size bow thruster. At 2.5 MW operating in low voltage, the starting current would have been about 10,000A. Using the RVS-DN, the starting current was limited and the voltage drop caused by drawing high currents was eliminated.
The enhanced Motor Protection package built into the RVS-DN ensures long term operation within safe operating boundaries. Beyond the elimination of high inrush current and mechanical torque surges, the soft-starter and motor will be protected from a variety of failures such as shear-pin, stall and under voltage to name a few.
