Motor Insulation Protection

A sophisticated Off-Line Motor Insulation measure and Protection unit.

Motors up to 15kV

 

Solcon's MIP-6 is designed for testing the insulation resistance of both Low Voltage and Medium Voltage motors. The model will depend on whether the motor is Low Voltage or Medium Voltage.

The MIP-6 is a fully digital unit and can be used for all types of AC motors.

 The MIP-6 measures:

  • Actual insulation resistance.
  • Last twenty-four hours average insulation resistance.
  • Previous month average insulation resistance.
  • Previous year average insulation resistance

Two types of Minimum and Maximum insulation resistance levels are recorded.

 One type is for the present month and the other for minimum and maximum levels since the last reset. A built-in programmable time delay prevents a mistaken insulation measurement due to motor cable capacitances and motor induced voltages.

Using automatically adjustable DC voltage level for the optimal Insulation resistance measurement Solcons’ MIP-6 relay protects the system from abnormal low insulation resistance conditions in the motor and cabling. At a time when a fault is detected, the MIP-6 system will alarm or trip the motor or prevent starting.

   

The MIP-6 Protection Features: 

  • RTD / Thermistor with two levels for each input 
  • Thermistor PTC / NTC selection 
  • Over temperature Alarm and Trip to each input 
  • Continuous analog output signal 
  • External fault 1 and 2

Protection Inputs can be assigned to any of the following items:   

  • Alarm only - Relay A 
  • Trip only - Relay B 
  • Fan (Trip, Alarm)- Relay C
  • Trip/Alarm- Relay D
  • Enabling Auto Reset
